University of Alabama's towers imploded to make way for new dorms

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama's Rose Towers were imploded Wednesday.

Hundreds of onlookers watched as the 13 story buildings came down.

Officials say the structure was destroyed to make room for a new and improved residence hall.

Rose Towers was considered a landmark at the University of Alabama, housing students for 43 years.
